Fathers@School Message from Chairperson

Fathers@School is a key initiative and part of a larger vision for the Dads for Life movement to provide opportunities to engage fathers to be involved in their children’s lives. The programme was launched on 1st August 2010 by Minister for Community Development Youth and Sports, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and White Sands Primary School launched its first Fathers@School activity in September 2010.

Since 1 April 2014, Fathers@Schools programmes is supported under MSF’s FamilyMatters@School. Renamed “FamilyMatters@School for Fathers”. This funding for father-child bonding programmes will replace Fathers@Schools.

Programmes planned for FamilyMatters@School are conducted with the following objectives:

- Promote father-child bonding

- Equip fathers with parenting and marriage skills

- Enable fathers to help other fathers become active contributors to the school.

Fathers@WSPS was formed in April 2016 with 10 fathers has grown to a community of more than 160 fathers who are passionate beyond just father-child bonding. This community of fathers provide support for each other through Fathers@WSPS closed Facebook page and WhatsApp chat group. Regular get together sessions such as ‘makan’ sessions, coffee get together & family gatherings help to forge brotherhood among these fathers.

Highlights of Fathers@WSPS in 2018

1. First Performance On Teachers Day
2. Raise > $1300 for Heart Shine
3. Record breaking 12 events

In 2019, the second generation core team was formed to ensure continuity of this movement. It is very encouraging to see 6 new fathers from the 2019 P1 cohort stepping forward to be part of this team.

We will continue to organise events that are exciting, engaging and effective to bring out the best father-child moments and everlasting memories. We encourage all fathers of WSPS to take time and participate in our coming events.

Thank you.
